HIPPY Graduation 2023

12 December 2023

SMRC has celebrated the achievements of its newest 25 graduates of the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY).
The two-year program encourages a love of learning and improves communication between parents and children. A child’s earliest and most powerful learning comes from their family, so HIPPY helps build parents’ skills and confidence in their role as their child’s first teacher. HIPPY offers learning opportunities for both parent and child, and even offers participating adults the chance to work in the program, providing employment pathways.

“The skills and tools HIPPY families have learnt will continue to be of value as families continue their learning journeys at school and beyond.” – HIPPY Coordinator Tatjana Krneta.

Graduates were presented with a certificate, t-shirts, completed portfolios and a commemorative cup in recognition of their hard work and dedication.

Applications for HIPPY 2024 are now open. Families with a child turning three by 1 May 2024 and living in City of Greater Dandenong are eligible.

We are also looking for a professional HIPPY Home Tutor with relevant experience to join our team of employees and volunteers on a maximum term part-time contract, working 15 hours per week based in Dandenong.

Key criteria:

  • Relevant experience and enrolment in the HIPPY program.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and resolve problems effectively.
