The Saturday Centre-Based Respite Program provides weekly, out-of-home respite support to both a carer and the person for whom they care.
This program allows carers the opportunity to take time away from the person they care for by providing services that meet the needs of their care recipients in the form of social outings, exercise programs, games and meals.
The Program includes:
- activities delivered by bilingual staff
- flexibility in terms of the activities on offer
- fun and relaxing social activities
- delivery of activities in a friendly environment
- provision of transport for ease of access
- provision of morning tea and lunch upon request
From various outings to the gentle exercise, this program provides a friendly environment in which care recipients are encouraged to share their experiences and connect with others. This small change in scenery allows a carer to mentally recharge, and keep providing the best care they can to their care recipient, encouraging a healthier overall relationship.
The Saturday Centre-Based Respite Program is a weekly program held every Saturday at Uniting Age Well in Noble Park between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm. Transport can be arranged.
To be eligible, clients need to be over the age of 65, live in the City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey, Cardinia Shire or the City of Kingston. The program is funded by the Federal Government through the Department of Health.
This program can be covered through a Home Care Package.
