Family Support Program
SMRC’s Family Support Program provides intensive support to families experiencing challenges in the relationship between parents and children.
The Family Support Program is for all families from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background. We assist in understanding issues around raising children in an Australian context and help in addressing challenges relating to the rapid blending of cultures in children.
Over three to six months, this program can connect you and your family to community supports such as:
- casework
- parenting support
- support referrals
- advocacy.
The Family Support Program can equip you with practical tips and skills to improve your connection to and communication with your family, improving the interpersonal connections between family members.
A worker will make contact with the family and arrange a meeting either in the client’s home or in SMRC’s office. The Family Support Program worker will conduct an assessment to determine the family’s needs and develop a plan that will support the family’s wellbeing into the future. Referrals and advocacy are also provided where appropriate.
The Family Support Program is auspiced by VT Uniting, Child First and the Orange Door. Please note: this program does not assist those with housing issues. Referrals go through VT Uniting: tel. 9705 3939.
