Carers Week 2024

22 October 2024

SMRC proudly supports and celebrates the vital contributions of Australia’s three million unpaid carers, whose efforts are valued at over $61 billion annually. Caring can be immensely rewarding, but it also brings challenges that shouldn’t be overlooked. Many carers experience isolation and face difficulties in entering the workforce, maintaining employment, or continuing their education.

Without the right information and support, caring can become overwhelming. It’s essential to acknowledge the critical role carers play in their families, local communities, and workplaces. Carers deserve recognition and tailored support to help them navigate their role effectively.

SMRC’s commitment to carers

The SMRC Support for Carers Program team is dedicated to delivering innovative, creative, and customized services, believing that one size does not fit all. By offering customised care, SMRC ensures that carers receive the support they need. On 16 October, SMRC celebrated National Carers Week, where carers came together to honor the dedication of those who devote their time and energy to caring for family members, friends, or others in the community. Carers enjoyed a variety of activities including sharing what it means to feel supported and pinning their photo on a world map to highlight the great diversity of carers.

SMRC expresses our heartfelt gratitude for all that carers do.
