Carers Week 2023
More than 60 dedicated carers joined us in Dandenong to celebrate and be acknowledged for the unpaid caring role they do every day. Carers Week is about recognising, celebrating and raising awareness about the 2.65 million Australians who provide care and support to a family member or friend. In FY23, SMRC’s Carer Programs provided:
- 7, 462 hours of support to 252 carers and care recipients.
- 2, 566 hours of centre-based respite accessed by 22 care recipients.
- 3, 039 hours of carer support accessed by 151 carers and 79 care recipients.
The day was filled with fun games, light exercise and dancing, inspiring carers sharing their stories, lunch and complimentary massages all day. The fun-filled room reminded us all that carers need the opportunity to take a break and to be amongst people who understand them and their role. We’d also like to thank our friends at Estia Health for joining us and providing a pamper pack raffle prize!
Join us as we say THANK YOU to carers of all genders and ages.
