Community Engagement Officer (Chin Community)

You will support the Community Stakeholder lead, acting as a connector between primary care services and the Chin community, focusing on improving health outcomes, enhancing service accessibility, and promoting community capacity building.

The position requires a strong emphasis on cultivating relationships with established and newly emerging multicultural communities, increasing access to services, and reducing stigma.

  • Part time, fixed term to 30 September 2026
  • Salary packaging available

Key responsibilities include:

  • Through innovative community engagement activities, identify emerging issues impacting communities.
  • Provide support, mentoring, and capacity building to community leaders, enabling them to navigate health systems and advocate for their community.
  • Develop targeted communication materials and education sessions to promote health awareness in CALD communities.
  • Available to work outside normal hours (weekends/evenings) for community engagement events and/or stakeholder partnerships meetings.

Key selection criteria includes:

  • Diploma of Community development, health promotion, social work, or related fields.
  • Sound understanding of and access to the Australian primary health care systems and the social determinants of health.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, developing and implementing strategies to engage with diverse communities,
  • Knowledge of health education techniques, particularly in areas like preventative health.
  • Strong group facilitation skills, with experience in managing complex, sensitive discussions
  • Understanding of and the ability to communicate both verbally and written with the Chin community
