Randa remembers a happy childhood in Lebanon as the only daughter of a family of six. At the age of 26, with a two-year old daughter and pregnant with twins, Randa and her husband were forced to leave their home when the Civil War in Lebanon erupted.
Randa knew very little about what to expect for a life in Australia. Following a difficult passage to the country, she was surprised by the amount of care and support extended to them upon arrival.
Randa joined SMRC’s Support for Carers Program in the late 1990s, seeking information, advice and support as an unpaid carer of numerous family members. Since then, she has remained closely connected to the organisation, making strong social connections with others through the program’s outings and social activities.
