Youth Activity and Learning Space (YALS)
The Youth Activity & Learning Space at SMRC is a free, supportive and fun program created for migrant and refugee young people aged 12–24 who are new to Australia.
Our space is designed to help you succeed in school, explore your goals, make friends, and feel at home in your new community.

Our volunteer tutors have expertise across all high school subjects and provide personalised guidance to help students succeed.

When and where?
- Monday & Tuesday: 3.30pm – 6.00pm (during school terms)
Location: SMRC, 39 Clow St, Dandenong
Who can join?
- Secondary school and TAFE students in Greater Dandenong & Casey
- Humanitarian entrants and other migrants on eligible visas within their first five years in Australia
- Refugee and migrant students aged 12–24.
- Students who have not yet received Australian citizenship
The Youth Activity & Learning Space is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Social Services under the Settlement, Engagement and Transition Support Program.
Any donations received from fundraising efforts enable SMRC to offer additional places in our programs, extending beyond the scope of government-funded spots.
