Support for Carers Mini Expo #2 in City of Monash
On Wednesday, 21 August, the Support for Carers Program hosted the ‘Getting to Know You’ Mini Expo at the Mulgrave Community Centre. This engaging event connected carers with a wide range of service providers, including the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Services Australia, Better Place Australia, Autism Connect, Estia Health, the City of Monash, and Monash Library.
Carers who attended the expo received valuable information about available services, made connections with fellow carers, and listened to insightful talks from guest speakers. The primary goal of the expo was to increase awareness of the Support for Carers Program and the diverse range of services offered in the City of Monash. A special focus was placed on supporting the mental health and wellbeing of hidden carers, a group that often faces unique challenges.
As Nicola Bull, Senior Manager Aged Care and Carer Services highlighted at the event, “We know that being a carer can be both rewarding and challenging. Carers often spend countless hours caring for others, and this can take a toll on your own health and wellbeing. This is why connecting with services, like those here today, is so important. You deserve the support that will help you manage your caring role while also caring for yourself.”
“So today, I encourage you to take the time to explore the services available here, chat with the wonderful providers, and connect with others. You’re not just carers—you’re valued members of this community, and we’re here to walk alongside you every step of the way.” Nicola continued.
In addition to gaining valuable insights, participants also enjoyed wellness activities like Zumba and Tai Chi and shared a light lunch. The event offered a balanced mix of information and relaxation, leaving attendees feeling informed, connected, and supported.
Feedback from participants:
- “It was very good and informative.”
- “Enjoyed the program provided, good information and yummy lunch. Thank you!”

The Support for Carers Program will continue to offer these important opportunities to connect carers with local services, resources, and each other, ensuring they have the support they need to navigate their roles confidently.
