Rahimi is a migrant who arrived in Australia in the year 1991. Before arriving in Australia, he worked for the IRC which is the International Rescue Committee for refugees overseas.

Rahimi’s  passion for working with refugees continued on his arrival to Australia when he worked for the SMRC in the settlement team and also at Foundation House. His education includes counselling and an advanced diploma in information technology at Chisolm TAFE in Dandenong .

A successful businessman, in 2001 Rahimi opened an Afghan Restaurant in Dandenong and has received multiple business awards from the city of greater Dandenong and the Chamber of Commerce over the years.

Rahimi is a key figure in the Australian-Afghan community in Melbourne . He founded his own community welfare organisation where he provides assistance to migrants who require support in areas such as resettlement. Rahimi’s contribution to the community has been praised in federal parliament.
