Jennifer has 35 years of experience in the community sector. After having completed her Bachelor of Social Work Placement at SMRC in the Settlement Team, she received her first social work job at SMRC in 2007 as a family meeting convenor for unaccompanied refugee minors. Over ten years later, she has taken on a wide variety of roles including Family Support Worker, Acting Team Leader for Case Management, Counsellor and Settlement Casework Facilitator. Prior to SMRC, her vocation was focused on the community sphere where she has a particular interest in working with marginalised communities and in the international development sector. After completing a Masters of Environmental Science 25 years ago, she spent two years in the eastern province of Sri Lanka. Here, she was part of the Australian International Volunteer Program teaching at an affiliated university and working in a family rehabilitation centre. Returning to Sri Lanka 12 years ago, she continued her work in the capital Colombo supporting Australian Youth Volunteers.
