The Hive

The Hive Program is a social support program that encourages individuals to celebrate and enhance healthy eating and wellbeing, through a love of gardening.

Our Hive Program enhances individuals’ health by providing weekly on-going social support which centres around growing and eating culturally diverse healthy food. It aims to enhance not only physical, but mental wellbeing too.

The HIVE Program activities include:

  • celebrating cultures through a shared love of food
  • providing education on growing and harvesting fresh fruit and vegetables
  • engaging individuals in physical exercise
  • presenting educational workshops
  • connecting individuals and creating new friendships.

It is well known that healthy eating can improve physical and mental health. Gardening is a great way to exercise whilst also being a mindful activity that can help relieve stress. The Hive is the ultimate program for those looking to enhance both their physical and mental health.

Anyone interested in the Program can self-refer or be referred through other service providers. We tailor the program to your needs based on your wellbeing goals. The Hive operates with the support of Parks Victoria at Braeside Park, Monday to Friday 10am-2pm.

The Hive Program is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Health under the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
