Exercise Program

The SMRC Exercise Program helps to increase mobility, strengthen the body and provide great health benefits in a low stress environment.

The exercise program offers warm water exercise, Tai chi, and strength training to help you stay fit for as long as possible, in a fun and social group setting.

Benefits of the Program include:

  • relieving physical stress
  • relieving pain and stiffness
  • improvements to body strength
  • arthritis pain relief
  • reducing blood pressure
  • helping to manage Type-2 Diabetes.

The Program is low-cost and you can start any time. Our Warm Water Exercise Classes run for 11 weeks and provide free individual consultation with an Exercise Physiologist. An individual care plan will be developed to ensure activities are addressing your needs and you’ll have access to community exercise programs that include strength training. The Tai chi class is run in partnership with Harmony Village in Dandenong.

Referrals to the Exercise Program are received through the My Aged Care portal.

SMRC’s Exercise Program is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Health under the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
