Our Homework Support Program (STAR Club) aims to support secondary school students in remaining engaged at school by providing assistance with their homework, as well as encouraging students to maintain a healthy school/life balance. Our volunteer tutors provide guidance with study skills, time management and links to local community services.
This support group is part of our Settlement Program, which aims to increase capacity, connection and participation in the community and also provides services to humanitarian entrants, and other migrants on eligible visas within their first 5 years of settlement in Australia.
STAR Club activities are free to participate, and take place 3 afternoons per week, taking place at 3.30 – 6pm Monday to Wednesday during active school terms.
Our volunteer tutors have a police check and a Working with Children check, and receive on-going training opportunities and support. This program is funded through Department of Social Services through the Settlement Services Program.
